In most countries, a Notary Public is known as an official who is licensed to perform notary services such as authenticating signatures or documents, witnessing persons under oath, or notarizing documents. Notarization promises authenticity of documents and signatures.
In Thailand, there are no notary publics and notary services and functions are carried out by specially certificated attorneys, called Notarial Services Attorneys. The notarization made by them is recognized and accepted globally.
In special cases, the notary services may be not sufficient. Some parties or government authorities might require further a certification of the notarization, so the documents must be certified (legalized) by the Ministry of Foreign Affair, foreign Embassy in Thailand, or a government authority.
